One of our strengths is the quality of the mining property that surrounds the operations and that covers wide areas characterized by favorable geological conditions for the discovery of new mineral deposits.
All exploration work is guided by quality control and assurance (QA/QC), respect towards the communities and the environment, and is conducted by professionals from our company with the support of highly experienced geologists.
Exploraciones Arica – Iquique
HMC controls an extensive mining property located in the coastal strip between the regions of Arica and Tarapacá in the north of Chile. The company is developing a strategic exploration program conducted in successive stages: basic generative exploration, oil geochemistry, geological field observations, and -according to preliminary results – the program progresses towards follow-up exploration using geophysical, geochemistry, geology, geochronology (4G) techniques and drilling.

Explorations: Michilla
At the Michilla mine site, basic generative exploration work is done on the properties located in the northern strip of the facilities. In this area only minor exploration works have been conducted, in charge of Antofagasta Minerals during the last 10 years. As well, a geochemical survey program in charge of HMC started in 2019.

Explorations: Sagasca
Since 2015 basic generative exploration has been carried out in the Sagasca mine site using geophysical, geochemistry, geology and geochronology techniques. The first phase of the exploration consisted in integrating historical information and/or a preliminary definition of anomalous zones. This work enabled us to focus exploration in areas with basement outcrop or where drillings showed evidence of altered basement or in some cases, sulfur mineralization.
In parallel, the company developed a geological and geochemical characterization of the Sagasca deposit in order to generate a geo-scientific baseline of information that would allow the company to set forth a vectorization hypothesis of the source or original deposit. Between 2017 and 2018 the company was able to detect a mineralized hydrothermal breccia, Paleocene age, by conducting an advanced drilling exploration process.

Explorations: Tambo de Oro
HMC carries out basic generative exploration with geophysical, geology and geochemical techniques as well as drillings in the properties of Cerrillos de Tamaya, located north-east of Ovalle.
At Tambo de Oro mine site, located south of Ovalle within the Punitaqui area, the company develops: permanent drilling activities to delimit bodies and exploration of the economic radius around the processing plant, with a main focus in the union of the Tambo de Oro and Vein Luisa structures.
The drilling exploration activities targeted for 5 spots defined by geology-geochemistry- geophysics- are in the easement phase.
